Jadeja Brings Out Sword Celebration Ball After 'Wrong Call' Led To Sarfaraz's Run Out
Jadeja's century celebration was marred by an unfortunate confusion with debutant Sarfaraz Khan, leading to an unfortunate run-out for the latter.
Star India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja smashed a sensational century on the opening day of the third India vs England Test of the ongoing five-match Test series between India and England at Rajkot on February 15 (Thursday). Interestingly, Jadeja chose not to unleash his symbolic charged sword celebration in its usual fervour. Instead, he celebrated in a more subdued manner after reaching the milestone, and the reason behind his restraint is indeed noteworthy and worth understanding.
Ravindra Jadeja's celebrations were overshadowed by an unfortunate mix-up with debutant Sarfaraz Khan, resulting in a disastrous run-out for the latter. Keen on reaching his century when he was on 99, Jadeja played the ball directly to the mid-on fielder and started a single. However, after his partner started running towards the striker's end, Jadeja changed his decision and returned to his crease. Unfortunately, his wrong call led to the run-out of Sarfaraz, who was playing an aggressive innings and was on track for a potential century with 62 runs off 65 deliveries before the run-out incident.
Nonetheless, Jadeja managed to complete his century by flicking a full delivery from James Anderson to the deep backward square region off the next delivery. However, due to the unfortunate circumstances of the previous delivery, Jadeja opted for a more subdued sword celebration on reaching the milestone.
