Meanwhile, Pant has already missed quite a few crucial series in the aftermath of his accident. He is still some time away from being cent per cent match fit and is likely to miss even Asia Cup as well as the ODI World Cup despite reports of him making a speedy recovery. Pant even missed IPL 2023. The southpaw is the designated captain of his franchise Delhi Capitals (DC). However, in his absence David Warner was trusted with the leadership responsibility this season but the side failed to qualify for the Playoffs after a nightmarish start to their campaign. They eventually finished ninth on the points table with five wins from 14 matches. Only Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) had a worse season with just four wins. Pant is likely to be back as the captain next season.
