Rishabh Pant Health Update: Wicketkeeper-Batter Stands On His Feet For First Time After Car Accident- Report

Rishabh Pant Health Update: The Delhi Capitals captain won't be available for IPL 2023 with some reports even ruling him out of Asia Cup and ODI World Cup.

India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is recovering well from the injuries he sustained in a car crash in late December. The latest update with regards to his health is that the Delhi Capitals captain was able to stand on his feet for the first time are successfully undergoing surgery for the ligament tear. Notably, Pant was driving from Delhi to his hometown of Roorkee when he reportedly dozed off and lost control of the vehicle.

"Rishabh has two cuts on his forehead, a ligament tear in his right knee and has also hurt his right wrist, ankle, toe and has suffered abrasion injuries on his back. Rishabh’s condition remains stable, and he has now been shifted to Max Hospital, Dehradun, where he will undergo MRI scans to ascertain the extent of his injuries and formulate his further course of treatment," an official statement from the BCCI dated December 30, the day of the accident read.

While he was initially treated for impact injuries in Uttarakhand, he was later airlifted to Mumbai and is currently under the direct supervision of BCCI's empanelled doctor Dinshaw Pardiwala who has previously worked with cricketers like Sachin Tendulkar and Jasprit Bumrah among other athletes.

Meanwhile, head of cricket operations at Delhi Capitals, the franchise which Pant leads in the Indian Premier League, has already confirmed that the star cricketer will not be available in IPL 2023 which is scheduled to start in late March or early April.

"Rishabh Pant will not be available for the IPL. I am in connection with Delhi Capitals. It will be a great IPL (for the team), we will do well but Rishabh Pant’s injury will affect the Delhi Capitals," Sourav Ganguly told Sports Today.

In Pant's absence, David Warner or Prithvi Shaw can lead the team, depending upon the management's call to rely on experience or back a youngster.
