Since Jadeja is not taking part in the World Cup, Axar Patel is expected to fill that void as he has been making headlines with his extraordinary performances for the Indian team. Patel won the man of the series as he scalped eight wickets in three matches against Australia.
Former Indian cricketer Ajay Jadeja also said that Axar is a perfect replacement for Jadeja.
"He has got his opportunity back. He is not complaining. He grabbed it with both hands. That's what happens in Indian cricket. Yes, we all will miss Ravindra Jadeja, but nobody is missing him from that point of view. The role that he was playing. Specially with bowling, I think he has in fact added to it. And he bats pretty well, so he matches there. It's only fielding where he doesn't match," Jadeja had said on Cricbuzz.
Apart from Jadeja, star seamer Jasprit Bumrah has also been ruled out of the T20 World Cup squad due to a back injury. The star pacer also missed the Asia Cup 2022 due to his back problem and made a comeback in the last two T20Is against Australia.
