BCCI announced a cash prize of ₹125 crore for the T20 World Cup 2024 champions. This prize money is to be distributed among the players and 42 members of the coaching staff.

Team India's former head coach Rahul Dravid declined to accept an extra bonus from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) following India's triumph in the T20 World Cup 2024 Final. Dravid reportedly insisted on receiving the same prize money as the rest of his coaching staff, agreeing to give up half of the ₹2.5 crore from the ₹5 crore allocated to him.

BCCI announced a cash prize of ₹125 crore for the T20 World Cup champions. This prize money is to be distributed among the players and 42 members of the coaching staff. Out of the ₹125 crore prize money, each of the 15 players of India's T20 World Cup-winning team and head coach Rahul Dravid were allotted ₹5 crore each.

Apart from Dravid, the remaining members of the coaching staff are set to receive ₹2.5 crore each. Alongside Dravid, the support staff for the T20 World Cup 2024 included Vikram Rathour, Paras Mhambrey, and T Dilip. However, as per a report in Times of India (TOI), Dravid has requested to receive the same reward as the rest of the staff, which is ₹2.5 crore.

A BCCI source was quoted as saying by TOI, "Rahul wanted the same bonus amount as his support staff. We respect his sentiments."

Rahul Dravid's successful journey with team India as their head coach

BCCI roped in Rahul Dravid as team India's head coach in November 2021. The decision was made after the Men in Blue were eliminated in the group stage of T20 World Cup in the same year.

Under Rahul Dravid's mentorship, team India reached the semi-finals of 2022 T20 World Cup. His tenure was initially set to end after the ODI World Cup in 2023, but it was extended until the T20 World Cup 2024 due to the team's strong performance, culminating in India becoming the T20 World Champion.

On June 29, India scripted history by winning the T20 World Cup title by defeating South Africa by 7 runs.

2011 ODI World Cup winner Gautam Gambhir comes in as Dravid's replacement for the head coach position.
