India wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant’s Test career took an uneasy turn as early as his second Test match after his dream debut two weeks ago in Trent Bridge. India wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant’s Test career took an uneasy turn as early as his second Test match after his dream debut two weeks ago in Trent Bridge. After questions were raised about his keeping during the fourth Test match at Southampton, Pant suffered a blow on his throat during Day 4, forcing him to throw up on the field.

In the 77th over of the England second innings, a Ravichandran Ashwin delivery bounced awkwardly after pitching in the rough and evaded the outside edge of Sam Curran's bat to strike Pant on his throat.

The 20-year-old was in a lot of discomfort and the play was stopped as the India physio walked in to check on Pant. It was during that time that Pant was seen throwing up beside the pitch.

Thankfully for India, the injury to Pant was not serious and he continued to keep wickets for the rest of the day.

Pant has had a tough time behind the stumps in this test match, already giving away more than 50 runs as byes. An unwanted record was also registered on the Delhi youngster’s name after he was out for a 29-ball duck – the joint longest duck by an Indian with Irfan Pathan and Suresh Raina.
