Pakistan Qualification Scenario For Super 8: How Florida Rains Could Affect Pakistan's Chances? Check Details

Pakistan Qualification Scenario: Pakistan, with one win and two losses in their three group stage games, has one final match remaining against Ireland in Florida on Sunday, June 16.

Pakistan Qualification For Super 8, Florida Rains: Pakistan's chances of qualifying for the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2024 were slim after suffering back-to-back losses in their first two matches. Despite keeping their hopes alive with a win over Canada in their third group stage game, their qualification is now further jeopardized due to flash floods in Florida.

Pakistan, with one win and two losses in their three group stage games, has one final match remaining against Ireland in Florida on Sunday, June 16. However, rough weather conditions in Florida are making it difficult to organize this match. Several major Group A matches are also scheduled to be held at this venue.

Recently, Nepal vs Sri Lanka T20 World Cup 2024 match was canceled due to heavy rain and flood warnings in Lauderhill, Florida, resulting in Sri Lanka's elimination from the tournament. Now, Pakistan faces a similar threat, with their qualification hopes jeopardized by the adverse weather conditions in Florida.

How could Florida rain affect Pakistan's Super 8 stage qualification chances?

Following India's win over USA, net run rate is no longer a deciding factor for the fate of the second-placed team in Group A. Pakistan holds a better net run rate of 0.191 compared to the United States' 0.127. Pakistan's path to Super 8 stage qualification depends on defeating Ireland and relying on USA to lose to Ireland as well.

Today, on Friday (June 14), USA and Ireland are set to face each other in Florida. USA has a pathway to qualify for the Super 8 stage by securing just one point from this match. While a win would guarantee USA two points and direct qualification, even earning one point in the event of the match being called off due to rough weather conditions in Florida will be sufficient for them to qualify for the Super 8.

If USA's match against Ireland is washed out due to rain, they will secure Super 8 qualification. However, if Pakistan's match against Ireland on Sunday (June 16) is affected by rain and Pakistan manages to gain just one point, USA will be the team to qualify instead of Pakistan under those circumstances.

For Pakistan to advance to the next stage, they must secure two points at all costs and for that to happen, they need a match with a result and not just a draw or no result.
