ICC World Cup 2023: BCCI Forms Subcommittees For Venue Supervision- Report
ICC ODI World Cup 2023: The duty of managing Chennai and Ahmedabad has been handed to BCCI President Roger Binny.
The ODI World Cup hosting associations will convene in New Delhi for a meeting called by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on July 26 (Thursday).
The BCCI top brass met with representatives of all ten state units on June 26 in Mumbai, just before the World Cup schedule was announced, and in a message sent to the state units on Tuesday, Board Secretary Jay Shah has called for a meeting in the national capital for further discussion prior to the significant event.
The five office-bearers: President Roger Binny, secretary Jay Shah, treasurer Ashish Sehlar, vice-president Rajeev Shukla, and joint secretary Devajit Saikia -- have been assigned the responsibilities of overseeing the 12 venues, including those hosting the warm-up games. In addition to that a different committee has also been established to offer suggestions for infrastructure funding. All these claims have been in a report carried by Cricbuzz.
The committee for infrastructure subsidies- includes IPL chairman Arun Singh Dhumal, former treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry, former Apex Council member Prabhtej Bhatia, and Karnataka State Cricket Association Secretary A Shankar, along with the five office-bearers.
State wise responsibilities given
The duty of managing Chennai and Ahmedabad has been handed to Roger Binny. It's important to note that Ahmedabad will host a number of important games, including the tournament's first game, the match between India and Pakistan, and the summit match on November 19, 2023.
While BCCI Treasurer Ashish Sehlar will be in charge of Pune, Lucknow, and Guwahati, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah will be in charge of the northern venues of Delhi and Dharamsala. Rajeev Shukla, the vice president, will be in charge of the southern cities of Hyderabad and Bengaluru, while Devajit Saikia, the joint secretary, will be in charge of Mumbai, Kolkata, and Trivandrum.

Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Delhi, Lucknow, and Dharamsala will be hosting the main World Cup matches, while Guwahati and Trivandrum are the venues allocated for the warm-up games.
BCCI’s official message to state associations
In an official message to state associations, Shah stated as quoted in the Cricbuzz report: "The committees were formed by the office-bearers as per the discussions held during the Special General Meeting on May 27 in Ahmedabad. It was resolved that office-bearers would form two sub-committees for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 and Infrastructure & Subsidy (sic).
"We anticipate that these sub-committees will work diligently towards achieving our shared goals and objectives. Together, we can make the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 a resounding success and further elevate the standards of infrastructure and development in Indian cricket," Shah wrote in his mail dated July 25.
The BCCI has appointed an external agency and has allocated Rs 50 crore each to spruce up the stadiums, mainly the corporate boxes, dressing rooms and outfields.
The warm up matches are all set to be held between September 29 to October 3 before the main tournament begins on October 5 in Ahmedabad.
