Lynn set for a comeback through Queensland
After a break of five months Australian top-order batsman Chris Lynn is all set for a comeback as Queensland have offered him a contract for the JLT cup.
A fit-again Chris Lynn has been offered a contract by the Queensland cricket at the eleventh hour for the JLT Cup after all-rounder Jason Floros opted out of the tournament.
The right-handed batsman, who last represented Australia in an ODI against Pakistan back in January, will look at this as a favorable opportunity to boost his chances of making a case for himself for the 2019 World Cup.
Lynn’s career has been crippled with injuries. The right-handed top-order batsman last represented Kolkata Knight Riders in the eleventh edition of the IPL and since then have been side lined because of a shoulder injury.
Lynn hasn't featured for Queensland in a 50-over since 2013. "It's been a few years since I have been a part of the group for the limited overs competition so I'm looking forward to getting involved and hopefully help us to play some good cricket," he said on Monday (July 30).
"I've enjoyed training with the boys in the off-season and am keen to get into the playing side of things again, first with the Knight Riders in the CPL and then the JLT Cup."
Queensland’s move to add Lynn in their squad comes at the back of multiple injuries to a number of their top player including Jimmy Peirson, who is set to undergo a hamstring surgery. Lachlan Pfeffer, Lewin Maladay and Tom Healy are in the race to seal the 'keeper's spot in the absence of Peirson. "You accept that injuries are a part and parcel of the game but certainly the wicketkeeper fills a pretty specific role in the team and is not easy to replace," coach Wade Seccombe pointed out.
