Bengaluru: Senior Indian cricketer KL Rahul has arrived at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) to commence an extensive rehabilitation program following a thigh surgery. His goal is to make a comeback during the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka in September, just ahead of the highly anticipated ODI World Cup.
During the Indian Premier League (IPL), Rahul, who led the Lucknow Super Giants, sustained an injury that forced him to withdraw from the tournament. As a result, he was unable to participate in the subsequent World Test Championship final due to the need for a thigh surgery.

In the ODI format, Rahul plays a vital role in the middle-order batting lineup and also takes on the wicketkeeping duties. With Rishabh Pant still recovering from a severe car accident in December 2022, Rahul's presence is crucial for the ODI squad.
Having amassed impressive career statistics, the 31-year-old cricketer has scored 2,642 runs in 47 Test matches, 1,986 runs in 54 ODIs, and 2,265 runs in 72 T20Is. His contributions include 14 centuries across various formats, highlighting his significant impact on the team.
Earlier, Rahul had also shared an update after undergoing a surgery. Notably, he was part of India's World Test Championship (WTC) final squad but his injury and surgery ruled him out of the marquee clash. In his absence, Ishan Kishan was named in the squad as a backup keeper with KS Bharat being the team's designated glovesman. In Rahul's update dated May 9, he had informed of his successful surgery and thanked the doctors and medical staff for making sure that he was doing fine.
