'It Was My Wrong Call': Ravindra Jadeja Accepts Mistake For Sarfaraz Khan's Run Out On Test Debut

IND vs ENG 3rd Test: Ravindra Jadeja accepted that he was at fault after Sarfaraz Khan got run out in his maiden international innings.

India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja accepeted his mistake after being involved in a run-out of debutant Sarfaraz Khan in the IND vs ENG 3rd Test at the Niranjan Shah Cricket Stadium in Rajkot on Thursday (February 15). Notably, Jadeja, on 99*, had called Sarfaraz for a single but later said no upon realising that it was a tight call. However, Sarfaraz by that time had travelled too far to reach back his crease on time. A direct hit from Mark Wood meant there was no way Sarfaraz could make his ground, ending his first international innings on 62 off 66 for no fault of his own.

"Feeling bad @sarfarazkhan97 it was my wrong call. Well played," Jaddu wrote in an Instagram story which has quickly gone viral on social media.

Meanwhile, after being reduced to 33/3 in 8.5 overs, Team India managed to post 326/5 by the end of the first day's play. India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first but got off to a nightmarish start after which Rohit and Jadeja added 204 runs for the fourth wicket to put India in some sort of control before Rohit fell for 131. Then came Sarfaraz in the middle and took to Test cricket like a fish to water, getting to a fifty off 48 balls.

In a bid to help Jadeja get to a hundred, Sarfaraz instantly said yes to a dicey call for a run for the local boy. However, he was sold down the river by his senior partner who said no, giving no chance for the Mumbai batter to get back in time. Sarfaraz equalled Hardik Pandya's record for the quickest fifty on Test debut in independent India. Only Yuvraj Of Patiala has scored a fifty on debut quicker than the two with him having got there off 34 balls against England in 1934.
