IPL 2021 Auction To Be Held On February 18, Save Your Dates!
IPL 2021 Auction Chennai Date Time: The cricket carnival is set to return on 25th March. SRH retained the most number of players (22) while RCB retained the least (14).
The BCCI on Wednesday confirmed that the auction for the upcoming season of IPL would take place on February 18 in Chennai. The IPL is back home for its 14th season after hosting a season outside India in the UAE amid the pandemic.
Fans are excited for the tournament to be back with a bang. Like every year, teams released and retained some players. But the exciting part every year is the auction that precedes the tournament. Hundreds of players are in the fray but only a handful are selected by the eight teams. A lot of planning and strategy goes into the preparation of the auction. Teams decide their targets and battle it out in an open auction. A one-of-its kind event!
This year teams released some players. Steven Simth and Glenn Maxwell’s release comes as a shock to many. Defending Champions and perhaps the most balanced side in the IPL, Mumbai Indians and RCB have an option to buy four foreign players. This year’s auction is expected to be a small one with just one day allotted for the event.
Let’s take a look at the number of players retained by each side and the purse emaining with each one of them:
- Chennai Super Kings: 18 players retained; Purse Remaining – 22.9 Cr
- Kings XI Punjab: 16 players retained; Purse Remaining - 53.2 Cr
