India May Lose Hosting Rights For Next 3 Asia Cups - Details Inside

After Asia Cup 2025, India is reportedly not in line to host any Asia Cup until at least 2033, which could be a significant blow to BCCI’s regional influence.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) currently holds the hosting rights for Asia Cup 2025, but ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan have put the tournament’s future under a cloud. It remains unclear whether India will host the tournament or if it will be moved to a neutral venue due to geopolitical tensions.

Meanwhile, Asian Cricket Council (ACC) is reportedly finalizing a hosting schedule for the next three Asia Cup editions (2027, 2029 ,2031) — and India’s name is missing from the list.

Asia Cup Hosts Finalized Till 2031

As per a report by the Times of India, the Asia Cup 2027 (ODI format) will be hosted by Bangladesh.

The 2029 edition, to be played in T20 format, is likely to be hosted by Pakistan. Meanwhile, the 2031 Asia Cup, returning to the ODI format, is expected to be organized by Sri Lanka.

This effectively means that after Asia Cup 2025, India isn't in line to host any Asia Cup until at least 2033, which could be a significant blow to BCCI’s regional influence.

India-Pakistan Tensions Impacting Cricket

This development comes in the backdrop of worsening diplomatic ties between India and Pakistan following the Pahalgam terrorist attack, which led to India's Operation Sindoor.

In light of these strained relations, many fans had even demanded India withdraw from the 2025 Asia Cup, raising further doubts about the tournament’s viability.

However, according to a Sports Tak report, the Asia Cup 2025 is still on track, and could start on September 4 or 5, with the final scheduled for September 21. The much-anticipated India vs Pakistan clash is expected to take place on September 7, possibly in Dubai.

Asia Cup 2025: Sponsors Pressure ACC for Schedule

According to a report by Sports Tak, the sponsors and media partners of the Asia Cup 2025 are urging the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) to hold an urgent meeting with BCCI and release the tournament’s official schedule.

The delay has raised concerns over potential revenue losses, prompting stakeholders to push for clarity.

This recent communication from the ACC to BCCI suggests that preparations for the tournament are ongoing, but a final decision has not yet been made regarding the host nation.
