Why Kuldeep Yadav Continues To Sit Out? Here's The Reason

India trails 1-2 in the five-match series, and the fourth Test isn’t going well either.

Kuldeep Yadav was once again left out of India’s playing XI in the fourth Test against England. With Indian bowlers facing a tough time in this match, questions have resurfaced about Kuldeep’s exclusion.

Indian bowling coach Morne Morkel has now addressed this concern and revealed the team’s reasoning behind the decision.

Why was Kuldeep Yadav not picked?

During the Manchester Test, Indian bowlers struggled significantly. England piled up a massive 669 runs in their first innings, exposing the flaws in India's bowling attack. After this underwhelming performance, Morne Morkel explained the team's stance on not including Kuldeep.

He said, "We are actively trying to find a way to include Kuldeep in the playing XI, but for that to happen, our top six batters need to consistently score runs. Only then can we afford the luxury of including someone like Kuldeep. It's all about maintaining the right balance. We need depth in our batting lineup if we bring him in."

Indian bowling failed to deliver

The fourth Test saw Indian fast bowlers struggle to make breakthroughs. Even spearhead Jasprit Bumrah failed to make an impact, giving away 112 runs for just 2 wickets in 33 overs. Mohammed Siraj managed only 1 wicket in 30 overs, conceding 140 runs.

Among the spinners, Ravindra Jadeja bowled 37.1 overs and picked up 4 wickets for 143 runs. Washington Sundar contributed with 2 wickets, while debutant Anshul Kamboj also took one.

Could Kuldeep play in the fifth Test?

India trails 1-2 in the five-match series, and the fourth Test isn’t going well either. England has already taken a 311-run lead in the first innings. With India under pressure and pacers struggling in English conditions, Kuldeep Yadav’s inclusion for the fifth Test looks more likely.

His wrist spin could be the X-factor India needs to challenge England in the final match.
