KL Rahul Returns To His Favorite Hunting Ground: Lord's - Check Stats

When the Indian team takes the field at Lord’s for the third Test, all eyes will once again be on KL Rahul, who has fond memories of this ground.

Starting July 10, India will take on England in the third match of the ongoing five-Test series. This crucial encounter will be held at the historic Lord’s Cricket Ground.

The last time India featured at this venue, they stunned the hosts with a commanding performance — and a major role in that win was played by KL Rahul, who scored a magnificent century and helped India seal the match.

KL Rahul Feels at Home at Lord’s

When the Indian team takes the field at Lord’s for the third Test, all eyes will once again be on KL Rahul, who has fond memories of this ground.

Back in the Test match played on August 12, 2021, Rahul opened the innings and produced a gritty knock of 129 runs off 250 balls. His composed innings featured 12 fours and a six.

Rahul’s performance was marked by exceptional patience and technique. Against a top-tier English bowling attack that included speedsters like James Anderson and Mark Wood, Rahul never looked in trouble. While most Indian batters struggled to survive, Rahul batted with assurance and anchored the innings brilliantly.

India’s Big Win at the Iconic Venue

India registered a memorable victory in that match, outclassing England by 151 runs. After being put in to bat, India managed 364 runs in their first innings. In reply, England scored 391, taking a narrow lead.

In the second innings, India declared after posting 298 runs, setting a stiff target for the home side. England's batting collapsed under pressure, managing just 120 runs, handing India a resounding win. For his match-winning century, KL Rahul was named Player of the Match.

Shubman Gill’s First Real Test at Lord’s

With Shubman Gill captaining India in his maiden Test series, the Lord’s Test will be a real test of leadership. India’s track record at Lord’s has been far from ideal. Out of the 19 Tests played at this venue, India has won just 3, lost 12, and drawn 4.

Gill will be looking to shift this narrative and guide India to another victory at Lord’s. If KL Rahul can replicate his past success here, India’s chances of taking the lead in the series will receive a big boost.
