IND vs ENG: Rishabh Pant One Step From Glory In Manchester

Rishabh Pant showcased a rare example of grit and determination in the Manchester Test.

Many records have been broken in the five-match Test series being played between India and England. At the same time, several new records have also been created.

A similar trend is being witnessed during the ongoing Manchester Test. Some more milestones could be seen in this match as well in the coming days.

Team India’s wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant is on the verge of achieving one such historic milestone. He has a golden opportunity to rewrite history in the second innings of the fourth Test. Pant is now just one step away from accomplishing this feat.

Pant has a chance to create history

Rishabh Pant showcased a rare example of grit and determination in the Manchester Test. The 27-year-old cricketer walked out to bat despite carrying an injury.

He had suffered a fracture in his right leg after being struck by a ball on the first day of the match. Yet, on the second day, seeing his team in trouble, he came to the crease and took charge of the innings. He even completed his half-century with great maturity and flair.

Pant scored 54 runs in 75 balls, which included three boundaries and two massive sixes.

During this courageous knock, the left-handed batsman equaled Virender Sehwag’s long-standing record for the most sixes in Test cricket by an Indian. Sehwag had hit 90 sixes in his Test career, and now Pant has reached the same mark.

Impressively, Pant achieved this in just 82 innings across 47 matches. With one more six, he will surpass Sehwag and stand alone at the top of the list.

Outstanding performance in England series

This series against England has proven to be very special for Rishabh Pant so far. The Indian batter has scored a remarkable 479 runs in five innings across four Tests. His run tally includes two centuries and three half-centuries. His highest score in the series is 134.

In the first Test at Headingley, Pant scored tons in both innings. He also played a crucial role in India’s historic win at Edgbaston, contributing a valuable 65 runs in the second innings.
