43 Years Of Waiting: Just 4 Bowlers Have Achieved This In Manchester

IND vs ENG 4th Test in Manchester will be Team India’s final chance, under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, to stay alive in the series.

A 5-match Test series is currently being played between India and England. In this series, the host England team is leading 2-1.

Now, the fourth Test match between the two teams will be played from July 23 at the Old Trafford ground in Manchester.

This will be Team India’s final chance, under the captaincy of Shubman Gill, to stay alive in the series. However, winning this match won't be easy, as India has had a poor record at this venue. Still, Indian bowlers will have a golden opportunity to break a 43-year drought at Old Trafford.

Only 4 Indian bowlers have taken a five-wicket haul in Manchester

So far, only four Indian bowlers have managed to take a 5-wicket haul at the Manchester ground. These bowlers are Lala Amarnath, Dilip Doshi, Vinoo Mankad, and Surendranath.

The last time an Indian bowler took a five-wicket haul here was back in 1982, when Dilip Doshi achieved the feat. Since then, no Indian bowler has managed to take a 5-wicket haul at Old Trafford.

Now, if any of Jasprit Bumrah, Akash Deep, or Mohammad Siraj manages to take 5 wickets in the fourth Test match against England, he will become the first Indian to take a five-wicket haul on this ground since 1982.

Bumrah and Siraj have been brilliant in the series

Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj have delivered excellent performances so far in the 5-Test series against England.

Bumrah has played only two matches and has taken 12 wickets during that period. He was rested for the second Test match in Birmingham due to workload management.

Talking about Mohammad Siraj, he delivered a stellar performance in the second Test match, playing a key role in India’s win.

Siraj took a total of 7 wickets in the Birmingham Test, including a five-wicket haul in the first innings. In three matches, Siraj has taken a total of 13 wickets. Meanwhile, Akash Deep also made a strong impression by taking four wickets in both innings of the second Test match.
