He now needs 76 more runs in the second innings to make history.

Yashasvi Jaiswal needs to score at least 76 runs in the second innings of IND vs BAN 1st Test to reach 1160 runs in the ongoing World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle. He has currently accumulated 1084 runs in this cycle.

If Jaiswal achieves this milestone, he will surpass Ajinkya Rahane's record of 1159 runs in the 2019-21 WTC cycle, becoming the Indian batter with the most runs in a single WTC cycle.

Yashasvi Jaiswal One Half-Century Away From Massive Record

After hitting a fifty in the first innings against Bangladesh, Yashasvi Jaiswal has recorded eight 50+ scores in WTC 2023-25 cycle. If he scores another fifty in the second innings, he will reach nine 50+ scores, equaling the record held by Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara for the most 50+ scores by an Indian batter in a single WTC cycle. Both Rahane and Pujara had nine 50+ scores in the 2019-21 WTC cycle.

Ashwin-Jadeja put India in solid position

On Day 1 of IND vs BAN 1st Test, tailenders Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja formed a crucial 100-run partnership, each scoring a half-century in the final session, helping India gain a stronghold.

India had a rough start, losing quick wickets in the morning session. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant then steadied the innings with a solid partnership. India have now crossed the 300-run mark and are now six wickets down, while Bangladesh's bowlers are aiming for more breakthroughs.
