Who Is Hasan Mahmud, Bangladesh’s Fiery Paceman Who Rattled Through India's Top-Order In Chennai
Hasan Mahmud, the young fast bowling sensation from Bangladesh, has taken the centre stage at the Chepauk stadium by his commendable display of bowling during the ongoing IND vs BAN Test.
The Indian cricket team has had a long history of facing troubles against a bowler who is particularly new onto the international cricket scene. Australia’s Jason Krejza in 2008, Sri Lanka’s Ajantha Mendis in 2008, Todd Murphy in 2023, England’s Tom Hartley earlier in 2024 and now, Bangladesh's Hasan Mahmud in the ongoing India vs Bangladesh Test at the MA Chidambaram Stadium is the new nemesis that has rattled the Indian batting lineup in their own den.
Hasan Mahmud, the young fast bowling sensation from Bangladesh, has taken the centre stage at the Chepauk stadium by his commendable display of bowling. Mahmud ripped through India’s top order in the first IND vs BAN Test by removing Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant to provide Bangladesh the all four wickets that they have managed to take so far on Day 1.

Mahmud handed India their first blow by removing the Indian captain in his third over, forcing an edge to second slip. The right-arm seamer then dismissed Gill in his fourth over, trapping him down the leg side. He followed up by claiming the prized wicket of Kohli, who edged a wide delivery to Litton Das in the slips. Then he claimed the wicket of Pant who also edged the ball to the keeper trying to play a cut shot.
Very impressive from Hasan Mahmud. Perfect bowler for these conditions. Just the right pace and the ability to move it both ways. Interesting to see how long this spice lasts.
