After conceding 445 runs in the first innings of the rain-marred match, India were reduced to 51-4 in 17 overs at Stumps on Day 3. Day 3 of the Brisbane Test saw as many as seven rain interruptions and made things frustrating for players and viewers alike. However, it also gave India a brief reprieve as they reached 51/4 at stumps. With just 33.1 overs played due to frequent rain interruptions and bad light, Australia’s momentum was stalled, giving India a glimmer of hope for a potential draw.

India's Top-Order Struggles Continue
Resuming from the overnight score of 405-7, Australia added 40 odd runs before Indian pacers wrapped things up to bowl Australia 445.
With no change in the opening setup of India’s batting order, KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal were tasked with a mounting responsibility of giving India a good start on a pitch that had a fair bit of assistance for the pacers.
However, India’s fragility was exposed again, as the visitors lost Yashasvi Jaiswal on the very second ball of the innings, with Mitchell Starc providing the hosts their first breakthrough. Poor shot selection led to Shubman Gill’s early departure as well as Starc got the Indian number three to edge one to gully.
Virat Kohli's dismissal of Josh Hazlewood’s bowling was the most frustrating of all, as he gave away his wicket in a familiar manner—chasing an off-stump delivery and edging it behind.
Captain Pat Cummins bagged the wicket of Rishabh Pant as India ended Day 3 on 51-4. KL Rahul played another solid innings and remains not out on 33 while Rohit Sharma will aim to get his first run tomorrow.
