Hidden Story Behind Aussie Cricketer's '468' Tattoo – Not Just A Number

In a video interview released by Cricket Australia on social media, Sam Konstas shared the story behind it.

Australia’s rising cricket star Sam Konstas, who gained attention during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for his on-field spark and a gritty 60-run innings against India, is once again in the spotlight.

But this time, it’s not for his batting or a clash with Virat Kohli—it’s for a special tattoo that carries deep personal meaning.

Why '468' Is Inked on Sam Konstas’ Arm

The 19-year-old recently revealed a tattoo of the number 468 on his right arm. That number signifies his Test cap number, marking him as the 468th cricketer to represent Australia in Test cricket. In a video interview released by Cricket Australia on social media, Konstas shared the story behind it.

“Yes, I’ve got a tattoo on my arm. My Test number is 468,” he said. “I told my parents directly that I was getting it and asked them not to make a big deal. I got it done two or three weeks after the MCG Test match, at Cronulla Ink. I’m happy with it—and hopefully, I won’t be getting another tattoo.”

A Symbol of Pride

The tattoo is more than ink—it's a symbol of pride and a milestone for the young cricketer. By getting his Test number etched permanently, Sam Konstas has joined a long-standing tradition among Australian players of honoring the moment they first wore the Baggy Green.

Konstas to Open for Australia in 1st Test Against Windies

Teenage batting prodigy Sam Konstas has been confirmed in Australia’s playing XI for the first Test against West Indies, scheduled to begin on 25 June. The 19-year-old will open the innings alongside veteran Usman Khawaja, marking a significant opportunity for the youngster on foreign soil.

Konstas, who was not part of the playing XI during the ICC World Test Championship 2025 Final, will now look to make his mark as Australia kick off their series in the Caribbean.
