IND vs BAN, Asia Cup 2023: Shardul Thakur Takes Three Wickets But Bangladesh Manage 265/8

IND vs BAN, Asia Cup 2023: Shardul Thakur was the pick of the bowlers for India.

Colombo: India won the toss and elected to bowl first at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Having already booked a place in the Asia Cup final, they decided to test their bench strength, making as many as five changes in their Playing 11. The Men in Blue bowled out Bangladesh for 212  in this final Super Four fixture. While Shardul Thakur was the pick of the bowlers, ending with figures of 3 for 65, Mohammed Shami, Prasidh Krishna, Axar Patel and Ravindra Jadeja were the other wicket takers.

Despite India dominating passages of that innings, Bangladesh managed to post a formidable 265/8 riding on half-centuries from Shakib Al Hasan and Towhid Hridoy who scored 80 off 85 balls and 54 off 81 deliveries respectively. The two shared a 101-run partnership off 115 that laid the foundation of their innings revival after Bangladesh had lost their four wickets at the score of 59 runs.

Bangladesh are already out of contention for a place in the final which will be played between Sri Lanka and India at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Sunday (September 17). India have already beaten Sri Lanka once in the competition before.
