Coronavirus In Australia: Aaron Finch, David Warner Question Govt's COVID-19 Measures

To contain the spread of coronavirus, Australia announced strict COVID-19 (coronavirus) measures on Sunday (March 15), with Australia Prime Minister Scott Morrison announcing new requirements that all arrivals from abroad must self-isolate for 14 days.

New Delhi: Amid the coronavirus outbreak, which has so far claimed more than 6,000 lives across the world, the sports calendar of the entire world has been put to a standstill. In terms of cricket, India vs South Africa ODI series, Australia vs New Zealand ODI series, both were played without fans in stands before being called off altogether. Aussie greats Aaron Finch and David Warner have now questioned the Australian government's new policy to tackle the deadly virus in their country.  To contain the spread of coronavirus, Australia announced strict COVID-19 (coronavirus) measures on Sunday (March 15), with Australia Prime Minister Scott Morrison announcing new requirements that all arrivals from abroad must self-isolate for 14 days. "To help stay ahead of this curve, we will impose a universal self-isolation requirement on all arrivals to Australia and it is effective from midnight tonight," Prime Minister Scott Morrison said in a press conference in Sydney. In response to Morrison's announcement, a journalist tweeted: "Genuine question -- how does the government know if new arrivals are actually self-isolating?" Finch re-tweeted the comment and said: "Have been wondering the same thing!!" In response to Finch's remarks, Warner added: "Or, what about the uber/taxi/bus/train they catch from the airport to their place." After India and Australia, England also postponed their two-match Test series in Sri Lanka while the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), which was due to start on March 29, has also been suspended till April 15. After that, Cricket Australia also called off final round of domestic first class tournaments, including the Sheffield Shield.
