BCCI Elections 2022: Roger Binny Frontrunner To Replace Sourav Ganguly As Next BCCI President - Report
1983-World Cup winner and country's first Anglo Indian cricketer, Roger Binny is said to be the frontrunner to replace Sourav Ganguly as BCCI President in the upcoming elections.
New Delhi: Sourav Ganguly, the former captain of Team India and the current Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President, might step down from his post in coming weeks, ANI reported. As per several reports doing rounds, BCCI secretary Jay Shah is not in the race to become the next BCCI president, but most likely will be contesting again for the same post i.e. the BCCI secretary with someone else taking over the top position. Meanwhile, 1983-World Cup winner Roger Binny is said to be the frontrunner to replace Ganguly as BCCI President in the upcoming elections.
Reportedly, a meeting was held in Mumbai regarding this between the top brass on next BCCI elections. Another meeting will take place in New Delhi next week where state associations will share their views.

The election for the post of BCCI President is to be held on October 18 in Mumbai, before which candidates will file their nominations on October 11 and 12, followed by scrutiny of nomination papers on October 13. Nominations can be withdrawn till 14th and after that if there are more than two claimants, then voting will be held on 18th October.
Who is Roger Binny?
Roger Binny was part of Kapil Dev-led Indian cricket team that won the 1983 World Cup title. Roger emerged as the star performer for his team in semi-finals. Team India had given a target of 247 runs to Australia, which they failed to chase down, courtesy of a brilliant bowling spell from Binny (4 wickets for 29 runs in 8 overs). Binny was also coach of India's Under-19 team which included stars like Mohammad Kaif and Yuvraj Singh that went on to become the world champion for the first time.
