BCCI Announces IPL Media Rights Tender For Cycle 2023-2027

IPL Governing Council in its meeting on Tuesday announced that the tender will be released after inclusion of two new IPL teams which is slated to be officially announced on October 25, 2021.

New Delhi: Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday took to Twitter to announce the Indian Premier League (IPL) Media Rights tender for the cycle 2023-2027.

As per the media release, IPL Governing Council in its meeting on Tuesday announced that the tender will be released after inclusion of two new IPL teams which is slated to be officially announced on October 25, 2021. From the next edition, IPL, which so far has eight teams participating in the cash-rich tournament, will become a 10-team affair.

"IPL Media Rights tender for the cycle 2023-2027 will be released immediately after the appointment of two new IPL teams which is scheduled to be announced on 25th October 2021," a BCCI press release stated.

"In a first for the IPL, the last two league matches before the VIVO IPL 2021 Playoffs will be played concurrently. On the last day of the league stage (08.10.2021) of the ongoing season, instead of having one afternoon match and one evening match, two matches (SRH v MI and RCB v DC) will be played simultaneously at 7.30 PM IST (6.00 PM GST)," the press release further added.

Earlier in August, BCCI had rolled out a tender to invite bids for two new teams proposed to be introduced in the IPL 2022 season. The apex cricketing board in India made the tender available for potential bidders to make bids to "operate and own" one of the two new IPL teams.

"The detailed terms and conditions governing the submission and evaluation of bids including eligibility requirements, process for submissions of bids, proposed new teams’ rights, and obligations, etc. are contained in the ‘Invitation to Tender’ (“ITT”) which will be made available on receipt of payment of non-refundable fee of INR 10,00,000 (Rupees Ten Lakhs Only) plus any applicable Goods and Services Tax. The ITT will be available for purchase till October 5, 2021." stated a press release from the BCCI.
