Australia drop Glenn Maxwell from ODI squad

MELBOURNE: Allrounder Glenn Maxwell has been cut from Australia's one-day international squad for upcoming matches against Sri Lanka.

Since scoring 96 from 83 balls to steer Australia to victory over India in an ODI last January, Maxwell has scored just 59 runs in seven innings at an average of 9.83.

Maxwell, Australia's reigning one-day international player of the year was the surprise omission from the 15-man squad named Sunday for five ODIs that will follow the current three-test series which Sri Lanka leads 1-0 after its 106-run win on Saturday.
