This year, Janaki Jayanti will be celebrated on February 21, 2025. The Ashtami Tithi will begin on February 20 at 9:58 AM and conclude on February 21 at 11:57 AM. As per the tradition of observing festivals based on the sunrise (Udaya Tithi), Janaki Jayanti will be observed on Thursday, February 21.
Puja Rituals For Janaki Jayanti:
To seek the blessings of Goddess Sita, devotees should perform the puja with proper rituals. On February 21, one should wake up early, take a bath, and wear clean clothes before taking a vow to observe the fast. The puja can be performed at home or in a temple. A small platform should be decorated with a red cloth, and idols or images of Goddess Sita and Lord Rama should be placed on it. Offerings such as roli, rice, flowers, and bhog should be made while reciting the Janaki Jayanti Vrat Katha and devotional hymns. Concluding the puja with an aarti is considered auspicious.
