Holika Dahan Puja Samagri

Certain items are considered essential for Holika Dahan puja. It is believed that offering homemade gujiya during the puja is auspicious. The puja samagri includes raw cotton thread, coconut, gulal powder, roli, akshat, incense sticks, flowers, cow dung cakes, batasha, new grains, whole moong dal, coconut, saptadhan, a water-filled kalash, a piece of turmeric, and a small bowl of water. Arrange all these items on a plate and perform the puja with your family.

On this day, Holika Dahan puja is performed with seven types of homemade dishes and puja items. Offerings are made, and witnessing Holika Dahan is considered auspicious. It is believed to burn away negativity and enhance inner energy.

Auspicious Timings For Holika Dahan 2025

Auspicious Timings: The auspicious timing for Holika Dahan will be from March 13 at 11:26 PM to March 14 at 12:30 AM.

Purnima Tithi: According to the Panchang, Purnima Tithi will begin on March 13 at 10:35 AM and will end on March 14 at 12:23 PM.

Bhadra Kaal: As per the Panchang, Bhadra Kaal will last from March 13 at 10:35 AM to 11:26 PM. Performing Holika Dahan during Bhadra Kaal is prohibited, so it should be done only after it ends.

Significance: Holika Dahan symbolises the victory of good over evil. It is believed to remove negative energy and bring prosperity.

Holika Dahan Puja: During Holika Dahan, people worship Holika and light the fire to celebrate the triumph of good over evil. After the ritual, it is a tradition to bring home the ashes and apply them as a tilak.

Beliefs Associated With Holi

On the full moon of the month of Phalguna, the Moon was born from Anusuya’s womb through Sage Kashyap. Hence, special worship and offering to the Moon are prescribed on this date. Worshipping the Moon on Phalguna Purnima is believed to cure diseases. On this festival, it is advised to mix milk in water and offer it to the Moon.
