Ashwin also became the joint-fastest bowler (in terms of the number of matches - 42) to complete 250 Test wickets at home

The list was held by legendary Sri Lankan off-spinner Muttiah Muralitharan who also took 42 home Tests to reach 250

He achieved the feat during the second session of the first Test against Bangladesh at the Holkar Cricket Stadium as he cleaned up skipper Mominul Haque for 37

A brilliant display from the Indian pacers saw Ashwin bowl just 4 overs in the opening session and even there he had the chance of picking the 250th wicket

In the overall record, a total of five spinners and four pacers have taken 250+ Test wickets at home

Ashwin on Thursday became the third spinner after Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh to pick 250 wickets on Indian soil
