Aishwarya Rai has time and again expressed her gratitude to filmmaker Mani Ratnas for having trust in her since the beginning and giving her some of the most memorable and iconic roles of her career in his films. Aishwarya made her acting debut with Mani Ratnam's 'Iruvar' before she rose to popularity.

Aishwarya and Vikram who also co-starred in Mani Ratnam's 'Raavan' have been earning accolades for their impeccable acting in PS-2. Their fans are already rooting for them to work again, soon.

In another picture, Aishwarya can be seen being all smiles with co-star Trisha Krishnan who essays the role of Princess Kundavai in the film and strongly abhors Aishwarya's character Nandini, in the film.

'Ponniyin Selvan 2' got off to a strong start at the box office, bringing in an enormous sum on the first day itself. This second installment in the epic series, which was directed by Mani Ratnam, reportedly made Rs 38 crore on its opening day across all networks.

The period drama's defining feature, beyond the flawless storyline, is its smooth camera movements, which have been superbly done by cinematographer Ravi Varman.

The movie tells the story of the early Chola dynasty and is a cinematic adaptation of Kalki Krishnamurthy's novels from 1955.
