He made his debut in Indian Music Industry with the 1992 Tamil film 'Roja'. For the mesmerizing tunes that he has provided for the movie Rahman has received the National Film Award for Best Music Direction , the Filmfare Award for Best Music Director – Tamil and the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Music Director.
