Rashid was born on July 1, 1968 in Badaun, Uttar Pradesh.

He was an artiste of the Rampur-Sahaswan gharana, which was established by Ustad Inayat Hussain Khan.

Rashid's innate musical prowess flourished under his father's guidance. By the age of eleven, he astounded audiences with his debut concert, marking the beginning of an extraordinary musical odyssey.

Classical vocalist Rashid Khan was also well-known for his work in Bollywood and Tollywood. Fans still love his song 'Aaoge Jab Tum' from Jab We Met.

He received an array of accolades, including the Padma Shri and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.

Rashid Khan was fighting prostate cancer at a hospital in Kolkata while being on a ventilator. He is survived by his wife Soma, two daughters, and a son.
