Twitter user asks about Sushma Swaraj's salary, Mr. Swaraj gives a hilarious reply
NEW DELHI: External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is known for her being prompt and helpful in “troubleshooting” public grievances through Twitter. She is acknowledge and praised by all for helping out Indian diaspora across the globe. Not only this, she has also left Twitter users amused with her humorous replies from time to time.
Be it 'airlifting' of Gurpreet, a woman who was stuck in a refugee camp in Germany along with her daughter, or providing assistance to Indian labourers stuck in Gulf, Sushma paved the way for rescue of everyone who sought help in times of distress.
But this time it was her husband Swaraj Kaushal, a criminal lawyer and former governor of Mizoram, who has left everybody in splits when a user quizzed him over the salary of his wife.
A user tweeted asking, “Sir sushma madame ki tankhwah kitni h” (Sir, how much does madam earn?)
"Dekho - Meri umar aur Madam ki tankhah nahin poochho. These are bad manners," Swaraj replied. He also added, "Arre chanda lena ho to seedha maang lo. Tankhah kyon poochhte ho." Sushma Swaraj has earned praise worldwide for her being approachable at the time of distress. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also hailed Sushma Swaraj for giving a "human face" to diplomacy and effectively using social media to deliver good governance and help Indians in distress in any corner of the world. "Social media has become very powerful. I am also connected with it. But the External Affairs Ministry and Sushma Swaraj have set the best example of how a department can be strengthened through its use," Modi had said in his address to the Indian diaspora during a community event in Virginia. Praising Swaraj for promptly responding and acting on tweets by Indians in distress anywhere in the world, Modi said the External Affairs Ministry is now connected with the poorest of the poor in the country.
