Student Protest: Delhi Tightens Security at Jantar Mantar as Weekend Crowd Expected

The student movement in Delhi has entered its 36th day, with thousands continuing their protest at Jantar Mantar. Amid growing tensions, the government has initiated several measures, including the removal of 47 NTA employees, action against senior education officials, plans to form an STF to investigate irregularities in central recruitment exams, and approval of amendments to the anti-paper leak law. With a larger student turnout expected over the weekend, Delhi Police has intensified security and closed 18 metro stations. Meanwhile, a third round of talks between the CJP and the government is scheduled, although the protesters remain firm on their demand for the Education Minister’s resignation. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also increased his communication with students through video messages, while RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat said that Gen Z asks questions and needs to be engaged in dialogue. At Jantar Mantar, Delhi Police has created a designated buffer zone using multiple layers of barricading to maintain distance between protesters and security forces and prevent a repeat of recent clashes.
