'Strength Of Your Unflinching Support...': Mamata Banerjee To TMC Workers On Foundation Day

TMC chief Mamata Banerjee congratulated party workers in the occasion of foundation day.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday congratulated the workers of Trinamool Congress on the party’s foundation day and emphasised a steadfast commitment to resist any evil force and persist in the ongoing struggle to safeguard the democratic rights of the people.

Noting the significance of the party’s formation on January 1, 1998, Banerjee underlined the party’s inception as a manifestation of conviction to honour the motherland, uphold state interests, and champion the protection of democratic rights for the masses.

In a statement posted on X, Banerjee said, "I humbly honour and respect the dedication and self-sacrifices of each worker and supporter of our party. Today, the TMC family is blessed with the love and affection of all."

She also pledged to persist in her fight for the country’s common people.

"It is on the strength of your unflinching support that we shall continue to fight for everyone in this great democratic country. No surrender to any evil force. In defiance of all terror we will continue our lifelong struggles for the common people of our country," she wrote in a post on X.

She also extended her greetings on the occasion of New Year. In another post on X, she said: "Wishing you abundant joy, good health, and prosperity in the coming year. May the days ahead be filled with happiness and success for you and your loved ones."

Mamata Banerjee formed the TMC on January 1, 1998 as a breakaway faction from the Congress party. Banerjee was a member of the grand old party for 26 years before quitting and starting her own party.

After two unsuccessful attempts in 2001 and 2006, the Trinamool Congress rose to power by defeating the Left Front regime in 2011, fueled by widespread public discontent against the communists.

In 2021, Banerjee led TMC to a resounding victory in the assembly polls securing her position as the chief minister for a consecutive third term.
