Cold Wave In India: IMD Predicts Dense Fog Over 4 States Including Himachal & Punjab This Week — Details
IMD said that cold wave conditions are likely to continue over Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, west Haryana, and north Rajasthan during the next four days.
New Delhi: India Meteorological Department on Saturday said, cold wave conditions are likely to continue over Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, west Haryana, and north Rajasthan during the next four days. A slight fall in minimum temperatures by 2-4 degree Celsius is likely over many parts of interior Maharashtra, the south Gujarat region, and south Madhya Pradesh during the next three days, IMD informed in its bulletin on Saturday afternoon.
It also said that no big change in minimum temperatures is likely to be seen over the other remaining parts of the country during the next 4-5 days. According to the weather department, cold wave conditions and dense fog will prevail over some states. Cold wave conditions are expected in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, western parts of Haryana, and north Rajasthan over the next four days.
Also, dense fog is likely in isolated pockets of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Tripura during the next two days. IMD has also predicted a low-pressure area over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and the adjoining East Equatorial Indian Ocean.
The central weather forecasting agency said the low-pressure area over the Southeast Bay of Bengal persisted over the same region and it was likely to move westwards over the South Bay of Bengal during the next 48 hours. The department has issued a wind warning due to this pattern for the South Andaman Sea, Southeast Bay of Bengal, and central parts of South Bay of Bengal till 20 December.
Last week, IMD forecast clear weather in the coming days. According to the forecast from the local weather department in Himachal Pradesh, the weather was expected to be clear till December 22. However, a warning was issued regarding a cold wave in the Una region. Fog conditions were also forecast in Bilaspur Mandi Hamirpur and Una districts of the state. The temperatures were expected to remain the same in the days to come.
