Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the party workers on the 41st Foundation Day of Bhartiya Janata Party. Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked the party workers for their sacrifices and commitment and said that the party will always move forward keeping Atal Bihar Vajpayee's ideals in mind. PM said that for the saffron party country is above all and the members will keep contributing to the nation's success.
PM also appreciated each party worker's efforts during the Coronavirus pandemic and said that people witnessed the dedication of the party when the country was facing its worst time.
PM Modi also said, "Today false narratives are being weaved. Be it on farm laws, CAA or labour laws. Such rumours aim to create political instability. Sometimes they say citizenship will be snatched, sometimes it's farmers' land, but they're white lies. BJP workers need to make people aware."
BJP is a movement that connects the people: PM Modi
PM Modi also spoke on how BJP has been fairing in assembly elections and discussed how the opposition party reacts to the BJP's victory. PM Modi said, "If BJP wins polls, it's called 'poll wining machine', but if others win, there's appreciation. People who say we're a 'poll winning machine' don't understand India's Constitution. Truth is that BJP is not 'poll winning machine', but a movement that connects with people."
The 41st foundation day coincides with the ongoing Assembly polls in four states and one Union Territory.
To mark the foundation day, various programmes have been organised at the booth level and glorious history, evolution, ideology, and commitments of the party will be discussed through webinars at the state and district levels.
The BJP has instructed all its office-bearers, and leaders, including booth heads and others at the grassroots level, to hoist the party flag on their homes to mark the party’s foundation day.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma will attend the event at the party’s state headquarters along with other BJP office-bearers. BJP MPs, MLAs, and mayors have been asked to attend the event at their respective divisional offices.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was founded as the Bharatiya Jana Sangh by Syama Prasad Mookherjee in 1951. Later it was merged with several parties in 1977 to form the Janata Party.
In 1980, the national executive council of the Janata Party banned its members from being 'dual members' of the party and the RSS. Consequently, the former Jana Sangh members left the party and floated a new political party. Thus, the BJP came into existence on April 6, 1980.
