Colour Palettes To Look Out For To-Be Bride And Groom

Nowadays, there is a shift towards a more personalised and intimate choice in weddings. The intent is not just to look like the 'bride and groom' but to make lasting memories while being one.

Weddings today are increasingly becoming focused on the bride and groom and their personal expression of culture, contrary to the erstwhile classical, traditional norms, with everyone else needing to 'adjust' and 'accept'! There is a shift towards a more personalised and intimate choice that is leading the way. The intent is not just to look like the 'bride and groom' but to make lasting memories while being one. With outfit colours shifting from red to pastel shades and the emergence of pre-wedding photoshoots, weddings have become much more than promises and a family get together.

Key Colours For This Festive Season:

An exquisite wedding attire combines ornate patterns, finest fabrics, detailed embroidery, bespoke accents, a flawless fit, and an eye-catching colour scheme. "Future spouses should concentrate on selecting colours that accentuate their beauty and confidence. The colour you have picked expresses not only your personal style and individuality but also traditional and cultural significance," said Fashion Designer Shilpi Gupta.

"The brides and grooms choose colour schemes that emphasise their own inclinations, interests, wedding aesthetic, and wedding theme. Each colour has its own distinct and symbolic features and meanings. For example, blush pink symbolises femininity and love, red emanates prosperity and passion, and white indicates innocence, purity, and entering a new environment," she added.

Kanika Vohra and Anuradha Chandrashekar, who are the Co-founders of ICH NEXT shared some key colours for the season:

The Pastel Twist

The choice of pastel hues have been dominating the wedding scene since the Anushka-Virat wedding. We saw duos hopping on to this bandwagon ever so fast. However this season opens with a quirky twist of pastels in combination with pop bright shades that bring in the personalization within a trousseau. Some of the top favourite hues for the season are shades of peach, rose pink while sage green will hit a new high (probably for its symbolic representation of fertility!).

The ‘South Indian’ Soul

Southern India’s exoticism, already dominant in gourmet culinary experiences is expected to influence the wedding season too! Warm colours such as, burnt orange, deep maroon or even beet red replaces the classical red tones and accentuated further by its use on heritage textile.

Indian Princess

While the international white wedding has always been coveted for its 'princess' like appeal, our Bollywood diva’s opened doors to this style with their version of the Indian Nawab and his Princess. White, gold and its dewy shades is likely to be an popular pick for the season, especially for the ones who want to break the stereotypes and keep it to the modern luxury vibe.

Colour Combinations That Pair Up Very Well:

Shilpi Gupta said, "To-be brides and grooms can choose a colour scheme that embodies grandeur, majesty, and a vintage feel," and suggested the following colour combinations:

  • A timeless option for exuding elegance is a wedding ensemble with accents of ivory and gold.
  • Try wearing blush or deep blue for the ideal harmony of richness and gentleness.
  • Soft pink and mint green or lavender and silver combine in a delicate and romantic form that is beautiful, charming, and surreal.
  • Brides and grooms who want to create a bohemian wedding look can choose to match rich and earthy colors like terracotta and dusty blue, or burgundy and sage green.
  • Mauve and sage or peach and green can also create a visually appealing combination.
  • Let the grooms and brides experiment with metallic pop for a sophisticated and modern look using midnight grey, rose gold, or taupe with the metal copper.
  • Drama and richness are added by embracing rich jewel tones like ruby, sapphire, and emerald.
  • Add majesty and richness with touches of silver or rich eggplant or royal blue.

  • Stack Up Mixed And Matched Gold Bangles For A Touch Of Tradition: Expressing individuality is made easy with mixed and matched gold bangles. Whether complementing a traditional bridal saree or a contemporary lehenga, stacked bangles add a touch of cultural flair to the ensemble. Experimenting with textures and sizes creates personalised, effortlessly chic arm candy reflecting individual style.
  • Wear A Bold Choker With A White Wedding Gown For Modern Elegance: Transforming a classic white wedding gown into a fashion-forward ensemble is effortless with bold chokers. Embracing modern elegance is achieved by adding a touch of sophistication to the bridal look. Versatile chokers, whether sleek metal or vibrant beads, effortlessly elevate style for the special occasion.

Pairing them with a grand bridal lehenga or gown creates a sophisticated and put-together look. The earrings add a touch of femininity and elegance to the overall bridal ensemble.

Minimalist Jewellery Tips This Wedding Season

Pallavi Mohadikar, who is the CEO and CoFounder of Palmonas Fashion Pvt Ltd. suggested the following:

  • Opt for Lightweight Statement Pieces: Minimalism doesn't have to mean small or insignificant. Look for lightweight designs with intricate detailing that provide a contemporary touch while ensuring comfort throughout the wedding festivities.
  • Consider Solitaires: Solitaire diamonds or gemstones in your jewellery can be the epitome of minimalistic luxury. A solitaire ring or a single solitaire pendant can make a lasting impression.
  • Layer Thoughtfully: If you want to layer your jewellery, do it thoughtfully. Layering delicate necklaces or stacking thin bangles can add depth to your bridal look without overwhelming it.
  • Invest in Demi-Fine: Demi-fine jewellery often features classic and timeless designs. Consider pieces like simple gold or silver hoops, delicate necklaces, or elegant bracelets that can effortlessly complement your bridal attire. These pieces can also be worn on other occasions, making them a cost-effective choice.
  • Prioritise Simplicity & Comfort: Ensure that your minimalistic jewellery is comfortable and simple to wear all day long. You don't want to be distracted by discomfort on your big day. Lightweight, hypoallergenic materials are ideal choices.
