Raj Anadkat Opens Up On Quitting Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Linkup Rumours With Munmun Dutta

Raj Anadkat aka Tapu of 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah', announced on Tuesday that he is no longer a part of the show.

New Delhi: Raj Anadkat aka Tapu of 'Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah', announced on Tuesday that he is no longer a part of the show. The actor, who has been playing Tapu since 2017, took to Instagram to update his fans about his exit from the show.

Now in an interview, Raj revealed why it took him time to announce his exit when the reports of his leaving the show were doing the rounds for months. He also put rest to all the speculations that there is a rift between him and the production house.

“I was in talks with the team and things were going on. Nothing went wrong. It was my decision. As an actor, I want to grow more in the field, try different genres and things. I did this character for five years and I’m grateful. But I wanted to do something else creatively. There was an understanding (between me and the production house). It just felt like I’m graduating from school to college. There’s no bitterness,” Raj told Hindustan Times.

While in the show, there were also rumours of him being in a relationship with Munmun Dutta, who plays Babita in the show.

“There were random people talking about these things. But I was busy doing my thing and job. It’s (Gossip) a part of an actor’s life. I focus on my stuff and ignore these things. I tried to avoid distractions. I don’t get bothered about rumours,” he was quoted as saying by Hindustan Times.

Earlier on Tuesday, announcing his exit from the show Raj wrote, “Hello Everyone, It's time to lay all questions and speculation to rest. My association with Neela Film Productions and Taarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashma has officially ended. It has been a wonderful journey of learning, making friends, and having some of the best years of my career.”

He continued, “I would like to thank everyone who supported me in this journey - The entire team of TMKOC, my friends, family and of course all of you (red heart emoji). Everyone who welcomed me into the show and loved me as 'TAPU ' Your love for my craft has always pushed me to give my best to each and every one of you, every single time.”

Raj concluded, “I wish the team of TMKOC all the very best for the future of the show. I'll be back to entertain all of you very soon. Keep showering your love and support (red heart and folded hands emojis).- Raj Anadkat."

Raj started playing Tapu’s character after Bhavya Gandhi quit the show. Raj had been absent from the show for a few months.
