Divyanka Tripathi received criticism for her thoughtless response to the latest earthquake.

New Delhi: 'Yeh Hai Mohabbatein' star Divyanka Tripathi received criticism for her thoughtless response to the latest earthquake that jolted areas of North India on Tuesday night. In her Instagram Stories, the actor expressed her joy at experiencing her "first earthquake in life."

 A 6.6-magnitude earthquake with an Afghan epicentre was felt in large portions of North India, including Delhi-NCR. 

Divyanka described how "very exciting" it was to experience her first earthquake in Chandigarh in an Instagram Story that afterward went viral on Twitter. "Okay, this is very exciting because I’m experiencing my life’s first earthquake and you won't feel it like this… Gali mohalla sab neeche aa gayi hai in Chandigarh. This is exciting, just for now, jab tak ke zyada nahi hota," (All the people from the neighborhood have gathered downstairs... until it doesn't get more stronger)," she said in the clip. 

The star came under fire from several users for her tone-deaf response to a natural tragedy. Many people condemned the actor for making callous remarks about the earthquake, which could have seriously injured a large number of people.

According to the news agency Reuters, the earthquake that hit Afghanistan late on Tuesday caused at least nine deaths and 44 injuries in Pakistan. At least two people died in Afghanistan as a result of the earthquake, which was also felt in Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan, and Turkmenistan.
