Sudha Kongara Prasad To Direct Hombale Films' Next Venture
Sudha Kongara primarily works in the Tamil film industry in the capacity of a screenwriter and film director. She worked as an associate director for many years with acclaimed-filmmaker Mani Ratnam
New Delhi: Sudha Kongara who previously directed 'Soorarai Pottru' will now be collaborating with Hombale Films, the production house which bankrolled the two blockbuster 'KGF' films.
The announcement was made by the Bengaluru-based production house on their social media account on Twitter.
Sudha Kongara will be helming a film based on true-events, Hombale Films' tweet said.
“Some true stories deserve to be told, and told right. We, at Hombale Films, are proud to announce our next film with director Sudha Kongara. A story that we are certain will capture India’s imagination like all our films have,” their post read.
Sudha Kongara Prasad primarily works in the Tamil film industry in the capacity of a screenwriter and film director. She worked as an associate director for many years with acclaimed-filmmaker Mani Ratnam.
She made her directorial debut with the Telugu film 'Andhra Andagadu' in 2008 which was not a success. It was with Sudha's third film, 'Irudhi Suttru' that she tasted success and also won a Filmfare Award for Best Director( Tamil). The same film featured R Madhavan, who was earlier on a sabbatical from Tamil films.
'Irudhi Suttru' was also remade in Hindi as 'Saala Khadoos' and ‘Guru’ in Telugu.
Having worked with Mani Ratnam and another acclaimed filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, Sudha Kongara brings a different template of experience. Audiences will have to wait and see what this woman director brings forth.
She has earlier called Mani Ratnam as her ‘guru’ and Rajkumar Hirani, who co-produced the Hindi version of ‘Sala Khadoos’ as her ‘mentor’.
"I've been a hard core Mani Ratnam fan since I was 15 and always wanted to be his assistant director. Luckily my wish was fulfilled. With Mani sir, I can say that technically we share the same love for music - the kind of visuals and classiness in cinema. But I can't think like him. With each film, I hope to find and establish my own voice and this is a step in that direction. Now, after working closely with Raju sir, I can say that I've moved from working with one genius to another. Both are hard taskmasters and perfectionists. Raju is also one of the kindest people I've met and the goodness in his films is just an extension of his own personality," Sudha told NDTV in an interview many years ago.
