Aamir Khan has made a striking debut as "Dahaa" in the highly anticipated Tamil action thriller Coolie, headlined by superstar Rajinikanth and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.

The official first look—released on July 3 by Sun Pictures—features Aamir in a dark vest, calmly smoking a pipe, exuding intensity and mystery. Fans on social media immediately dubbed the reveal “fire” and expressed excitement over the North–South cine crossover.

Although his role is described as a cameo, the dramatic introduction has led many to speculate that Aamir’s character could prove pivotal, especially after reports hinted at a high-stakes showdown with Rajinikanth during the film’s climax

All About Rajinikanth’s Coolie

Marketed as one of India's most expensive productions, Coolie carries a staggering ₹375 crore budget—including ₹150 crore for Rajinikanth and ₹50 crore for director Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film has already amassed approximately ₹240 crore through pre-release non-theatrical sales (digital, satellite, and music rights), leaving ₹135 crore to be earned via box office channels 

In addition to Rajinikanth and Aamir Khan, Coolie features an expansive cast: Nagarjuna, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Reba Monica John, and Junior MGR. With cinematography by Girish Gangadharan and music composed by Anirudh Ravichander, the film is slated to premiere across Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi in IMAX theatres on August 14, 2025.

 Aamir Khan was most recently seen in 'Sitare Zameen Par', released in June 20, which is getting good reviews from the audiences.
