Shilpa Shinde Returns To Comedy After Six Years With Maddam Sir

Sony Sab's ‘Maddam Sir’ will mark Shilpa Shinde's return to television after a six-year hiatus.

New Delhi: The ‘Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai’ star Shilpa Shinde is returning to television with a new daily shop. Following a six-year hiatus, Shilpa Shinde is making her comedic comeback with this show. Sony Sab's ‘Maddam Sir’ will mark Shinde's return to television after she was last seen in ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 10’.

Shilpa confirmed her participation in the show during an interview with ETimes. She said, “Yes, I am going to be a part of Maddam Sir. The show has been on the air for quite some time and is appreciated for its clean and amazing slapstick comedy. One can’t decline such an offer.”

Shinde elaborated on her role, saying that her protagonist had been a police officer but had left the force and put her ambitions on hold in order to concentrate on her marriage.

‘Maddam Sir’, the name of the show, has a strong appeal for Shilpa. “The title of the show is so catchy, and I relate to it. Everyone who has worked with me at home addressed me as ‘boss’ or ‘sir’ because they have seen me go out and work,” she said.

The Sony SAB series centres on four female police officers from the Lucknow Mahila Police Station. In the show, Gulki Joshi portrays Maddam Sir - S.H.O. Haseena Mallik. There has been no word yet on whether Shilpa is replacing her or is just joining the show.

Shilpa's performance of Angoori Bhabhi in ‘Bhabhiji Ghar Pe Hain’ catapulted her to fame. In spite of this, she quit the show after a year. Shilpa claims that she was subjected to psychological abuse at the hands of the cast and producers. Shilpa later competed in ‘Bigg Boss 11’, and she ended up winning.
