Shah Rukh Khan Stopped By Custom Officials For Carrying Costly Watches Worth Rs. 18 Lakh

In a recent incident, Shah Rukh Khan was stopped by the Customs Department at the Mumbai airport because of carrying expensive watches from UAE.

Shah Rukh Khan recently had a run-in with the airport officials after making an appearance at an event in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. The actor was reportedly stopped by the Customs Department at Mumbai airport on Monday because of certain pricey watches. They were in the luggage that Khan and his entourage, who were travelling with him from the event, were carrying.

Before being permitted to depart the airport, Shah Rukh Khan reportedly had to pay a customs duty of Rs. 6.83 lakh. The actor was flying in a privately chartered airplane from UAE. According to reports, the actor and those travelling with him had package for six costly watches  worth approximately 18 lakh rupees.

According to reports, some Khan's crew, including his bodyguard, were held all night for questioning before being allowed to depart before dawn. Although the actor and his manager were let to leave the airport once customs formalities were completed.

Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan was recognised for his contributions to global film and culture yesterday at the Sharjah International Book Fair 2022, where he received the Global Icon of Cinema and Cultural Narrative Award.

Khan was questioned at the event about his worry around his forthcoming releases. The actor claimed that he does not think he has to be concerned because they are all going to be superhit films. “If I did not have that belief that I am making a product that lots of people are going to like then I won’t be able to do it," he said.

On the work front, with three major films — Siddharth Anand's 'Pathaan', Atlee's 'Jawan', and Rajkumar Hirani's 'Dunki' — scheduled for release in 2023, Shah Rukh Khan will make his return to the big screen.
