It is the fifth film in this franchise as well as a reboot that introduces a new and younger cast. The film has gained an advantage of Martin Luther King Jr. holiday weekend release. Paramount Pictures has estimated that the collections will total at $35 million including Monday’s grosses.
The film is considered to be the first box-office success in the US in over a year. With this Hollywood is expecting to return to weekly stability at the movie theatres. The recent surge in Covid-19 across the globe has impacted the film industry and has delayed plans for various releases.
Marvel’s ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ slipped to the second-place grossing at $20.8 million in its fifth week of release. Producer Sony Pictures have predicted that the film will earn another $5.2 million on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. This will help the film reach a domestic copulative of $703.9 million in total.
It will move to the fourth place leaving behind ‘Black Panther’. The first three places are held by ‘Avatar’ ($760 million). ‘Avengers: Endgame’($858 million) and 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' ($936 million). The new film from the Spider-Man franchise has grossed at $1.6 billion, globally.
