Priyanka Chopra on grief
Priyanka has always been open about how profoundly her father’s death in 2013 affected her. During the Red Sea International Film Festival, she revealed the emotional turmoil she experienced at the time and how she chose to honour his wishes. “So, I went back to work four days after his funeral because I know that’s what my dad wanted me to do, and I put all my grief into those fight scenes,” she said, referring to her film Mary Kom.
She also reflected on how grief has woven itself into her daily life. Speaking on the Read the Room podcast, Priyanka shared, “After my dad passed away, I came to a slow but steady conclusion that the kind of pain would never go away. It’s your companion… There will be days when it comes out in a biggish way and wants to stay over for dinner or maybe a week, and there will be days when you don’t even remember about it until you see a photo…”
