On International Women's Day, Sushmita Sen Reveals Her Struggles As Single Mom Facing 'Endless Questions'

Sushmita Sen celebrated International Women's Day by sharing a lovely photo of herself and a heartfelt message.

New Delhi: Sushmita Sen spoke about her children, Renee and Alisah, in her recent Instagram post. She admitted that many people had their doubts about her adoption plan, but she had decided to go forward with her decision.

Many people questioned whether it would be a prudent move to become a mother at such a young age, and that too as a single mother, given her burgeoning profession. Sen, on the other hand, has received much praise since then for standing up for what she believed was right.

In a note accompanying her Instagram post, Sushmita Sen wrote: "Renee was born from my heart when I was just 24 years old. It was a big decision!! Many questioned it. Why adoption? How will you raise a child without being married? Are you ready to be a single parent? You realise the impact this decision will have on your professional & personal life? The questioning & opinions were endless…"

She further wrote,  "And yet, I did what felt right in my heart. I knew I was ready to be a mother. And it turned out to be the best decision I ever made, one so profound…I made it twice!! Now I am blessed with two beautiful daughters: Renee and Alisah."

She concluded the note saying, "I am who I am because I found the courage to follow my heart…seeking the right guidance, information & support that was needed when I needed it. I know these biases haven’t really stopped. But they shouldn’t stop you. This is a reminder to talk about them. Find YOUR answer.."

Sushmita Sen marked her comeback to the big screen after a 10-year absence with 'Aarya'. The actress appeared in two seasons of the series, both of which were quite popular. She earned overwhelmingly enthusiastic feedback for her outstanding performance from the reviewers.
