New Delhi: John Abraham and Emraan Hashami will be seen sharing screen-space in Sanjay Gupta's 'Mumbai Saga'. The upcoming action crime drama has been making waves ever since the project was announced. The cast and crew have wrapped up the shoot of 'Mumbai Saga', which was originally slated to hit the silver screens on June 19, 2020. Speculations are rife that the makers of the movie have sold the rights to a leading OTT platform. The streaming giant has reportedly acquired the film for a whopping amount, which has not been disclosed yet. "Amazon has shelled out an amount in high double digit figures to acquire Mumbai Saga, which has now made the film one of, if not the most costly acquisition of recent times," a source told Bollywood Hungama. When asked if the deal between Amazon and the producers has been signed, the source said that the talks are still going on. He added that the makers are happy with the offer they have received. "Talks are still on, but the moneys are on the table and the makers of the film are pretty happy with the offer. 'Mumbai Saga', which has been produced by T-Series, will showcase the story of the 'Changing face of Mumbai'. The movie also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Suniel Shetty, Sharman Joshi, Prateik Babbar, Gulshan Grover and Mahesh Manjrekar.

COVID-19 pandemic severely affected the entertainment industry in 2020. Shooting of films, TV shows and web series were put on halt for months due to the Coronavirus lockdown. The makers of big-budget films including 'Coolie No. 1', 'Sadak 2', 'Laxmii' decided to release their movies on leading OTT platforms. Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan starrer 'Coolie No.1' premiered directly on Amazon Prime on Christmas 2020 while Akshay Kumar's 'Laxmii' released before Diwali 2020 on Disney+ Hotstar. Upcoming films like 'The Big Bull', 'Bhuj: The Pride Of India' will also skip the theatrical release and premiere directly on OTT platforms. Watch this space for more updates!
