‘Gold’ actor Amit Sadh: I haven’t achieved any milestone yet "It was a conscious decision trying to show the physicality and the strength the Special Forces have. I was 72 kg when I was offered this role and now I am 90," he added. The 35-year-old actor is portraying Major Mike Tango, the mission leader of the Indian Army's Special Forces team that conducted surgical strikes on terrorist camps along the LoC. Every time I do a movie or play a character people don’t recognise me because I change physically. To bring a change in physicality is one of the first things I look for when I get a part to play. This change in physicality as Mike Tango was the toughest for me because I had to transform drastically from playing a hockey player in Gold to playing a commando in #IndiaStrikes10Days. I had to go from a character who had to lose all muscle and weighed 72 kgs to becoming Mike Tango who was strong and big at 86kgs. To become strong or to look as strong as someone from the Special Forces, I had to put in a lot of work. I had to put in extra hours not just working out but also preparing myself mentally to think like a special forces commando. But this Herculean task of becoming Mike Tango would not have been possible without the help of @rakeshudiyar sir. With his help, guidance and direction I have tried to look as authentic as a Special Forces commando. I also had the privilege to be backed by a great team from @applausesocial & @iradaentertainment. Thank you @sameern who has been one of the hugest influence from the start of my career. My producer and friend @samkhan who has been a supporter of my acting and who thought I could pull this off. You know I do get asked if these physical transformations take a toll on my health and my life. The answer is yes they do. But I would still do it because there is no other way I know. I am an actor who is in this profession to play characters. And I feel blessed that I get to play so many different characters. And I would choose to transform physically into a character each time and feel absolutely happy doing so! @middayindia
