Suniel Shetty's comparison of 'Heropanti 2' and 'Runway 34' with 'Lagaan' and 'Gadar's clash at the box office in 2001 is interesting

New Delhi: Suniel Shetty shared best wishes with the teams of  'Runway 34' and 'Heropanti 2' ahead of their release. 'Heropanti 2' is all set to release on 29th April. The Tiger Shroff and Tara Sutaria film will clash with Ajay Devgn's 'Runway 34'.

Suniel Shetty took to his official Twitter handle to share both film's posters and wrote, "A #FridayStorm arrives. A cool #ClashOfTheTitans. Years after #Gadar & #Lagaan clashed & yet became blockbusters we have another #FabFriday coming up. #Heropanti2 with #Runway34. Both looking fab. Happy for both. I feel like that kid saying #MereDoDoLollipop. Best 2both."

Shetty's comparison  with 'Lagaan' and 'Gadar's clash at the box office in 2001 is interesting. Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer 'Gadar' clashed with Aamir Khan's 'Lagaan'. Despite Gadar's mixed reviews, it became the second-highest grossing film of the 90s after 'Hum Apke Hain Koun...'

The clash at the box office was so momentous that 'Gadar' generated Rs 768.8 million when it was filmed on a budget of Rs 190 million. On the other hand, Ashutosh Gowarikar's 'Lagaan' , then made on an unprecedented budget of Rs 250 million earned Rs 65.97 crores( Rs 220 crores in 2020) and became the third highest grosser of 2001 after 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun' and 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha'.

Both 'Heropanti 2' and 'Runway 34' are being released on the momentous occasion of Eid 2022, a slot most usually used by Salman Khan to release all his films.

'Heropanti 2' also stars Nawazudding Siddiqui and is the sequel of 2014 film 'Heropanti'. The film has been directed by Ahmed Khan and produced by  Sajid Nadiadwala under the banner of Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment.

On the other hand, 'Runway 34' features Amitabh Bachchan, Rakul Preet Singh Boman Irani and Aakanksha Singh. 'Runway 34' has been directed by Ajay Devgn himself and produced by Ajay Devgn FFilms and Panorama Studios.
